Obituaries: Bernard E. Tetro

Bernard E. Tetro, 73, of Bristol, beloved husband of Nancy (Gendreau) Tetro, died on Monday, Aug. 1, at home.

Bernie was born on Dec. 24, 1942 in Bristol and was a son of the late Raymond Tetro, Sr. and Gertrude (Dorman) Tetro.  He was a longtime Bristol resident and was a cement truck driver for A. Aiudi & Sons for 22 years.  He and Nancy moved to Port St. Lucie, Fla. where they lived for ten years, and Bernie worked for the City of Port St. Lucie before retiring and returning to Bristol.  He enjoyed driving his trucks and was a NASCAR fan.  Bernie previously served as a volunteer fireman for the Town of Burlington and was a parishioner of St. Ann Church.

In addition to his wife of 53 years, Bernie is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Kevin and Joan Tetro of Bristol; a daughter and son-in-law: Karen and Robert Sampson of Swansea, Mass.; three brothers: Raymond Tetro, Jr., and his wife, Jackie, of Plainville, William Tetro of East Hartford, and Michael Tetro of Burlington; a sister: Margaret Castle of Burlington; five grandchildren: Elizabeth, Robert, Meaghan, Matthew, and Katie;  a great-granddaughter, Alexis;  and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours were held at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., on Wednesday, Aug. 3. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 6 at 9 a.m. from Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, to St. Ann Church, 215 West St, Bristol, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.  The family thanks Bristol Hospital Home Care and Hospice, especially Jill, Perry, and Rita, who showed such love and compassion during such a trying time.
